If it’s Bali, I must be Norman

Bali is a vacation destination in Indonesia. The port is in a very well protected harbor approached through Benoa Bay, an area lined with vacation spots and full of water sport activities as well as local fisherpersons!  Cruise ships dock in the free flight path to of the Bali airport.

The bay is very shallow except for presumably dredged channels and collected to the rest of the area  by a new causeway type bridge so new that it is not showing on the G earth photo. The shallowness and newness are evidenced by new mangrove plantings along the lower areas. Scooters are a main mode of transportation  and the bridge has dedicated barrier protected lanes.  But out beyond the new bridge- OMG!

And why Norman you might ask? Norman is the rational name for the second don, which I am.

More and deeper thoughts about Bali will follow in a subsequent post

  1. Interesting to discover that over 17,000 islands make Bali the largest island nation on the globe!
